Welcome to the Lacemakers Circle Web SiteThe Lacemakers Circle, usually known as the Circle, was formed in 1988 to provide a focus for hobby lacemakers of all ages and degrees of skill through a quarterly magazine and the promotion of workshops, classes, courses, demonstrations, lace days and similar events. The Circle also maintains a library, the books being available for loan to UK members. The Circle is managed by a committee comprising a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer and up to six voting members. The magazine editor is appointed by the committee. The magazine contains patterns, articles, book reviews, listings of lace days & exhibitions, and news & views from members. The Circle offers a select range of sales items, a few of which are featured on the sales page. Uniquely, we believe, the Circle offers a Help Line to its members and a Lace Pairing scheme which has brought about many close friendships. Notice from the committee - In view of a shortage of Committee members and falling numbers which reduces income, the Committee reluctantly decided to call an EGM to decide the future of the Circle. Members, mostly by post, decided that the only option was to close the Lacemaker's Circle from April 2012. The Member's meeting in 2012 will be the final one and will celebrate the activities of the Circle. Further details can be found in the magazine. |
